Pontiac Repair: 1995 grand am 4cl 3.2l, cam shaft, oil valves

Question
engine was run low on oil valves are tapping can and how to adjust

Answer
Hey Robert:

That is a 2.3 Liter engine. The lifters are hydrolic with No lash adjustment. If they are making noise they need to be replaced and hopefully they didn't get scored up in the carriers for the cam shaft. I would make sure the oil is full and then do an oil pressure test to make sure the engine has enough pressure. If it is low on pressure brand new lifters are going to do the exact same thing sooner rather than later. Alos those engines were noted for chain noise which can be confused as lifters clattering. Good luck :)
