Pontiac Repair: Remote door lock/unlock,trunk open inop., keyless entry system, remote keyless entry

Question
QUESTION: 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix GT,2Dr,3.8 ltre. EFI.   The doors and trunk will not do anything with either remote. The remotes have been tested by the local Pontiac dealer and appear to be O.K. They say there is an antennae and a computer that receive signals from the remotes. How can I find these and how can I check them out?

ANSWER: Hey Jim:

Yup there is an antenna inside the car it's a remote control door lock receiver. on that car it's above the radio and behind the driver info center.they do go bad from time to time. If the remotes test good then it's a few things it can be the reciver is bad or the wiring to it bad like a blow fuse. or the body control module does not see the request sent from the receiver. if your handy I can send you the check/diagnostic chart for keyless entry in-op. if not then  this is a job for a qualified technician to do.
