Pontiac Repair: Cost of repair?, turn signal switch, hey craig

Question
Hi Todd, thanks for the quick response on my Grand AM steering column question. Can you give me a ballpark estimate what I should expect to pay to replace the turn signal switch, and now-broken cancel cam? Also, is it possible to obtain these replacement parts myself for a cheaper rate?

Answer
Hey Craig:

The switch is more than likely $125.00 and the cancel cam is maybe $30.00 labor cost is about 1 1/2 hours. so my guess total repair would be $300-$350 depending on the labor rate of the shop you goto. Just a rough guess My job is not $$$ related I just fix em. The cancel cam is a dealer only part and you may be able to find an aftermarket switch at NAPA or Carquest. any of the crappy parts stores will not have it. Good luck :}
