Pontiac Repair: 1995 Pontiac Sunfire 2.2L 79,000 miles, blower motor resistor, upper radiator hose

Question
Hi there.  I have a problem with what I think is the blower on my Sunfire.  The heater/ac will only come on if I have it on the highest setting.  Is this an easy fix?

Also, I replaced the thermostat, the upper radiator hose and flushed the coolant a few days ago.  Now the heater doesn't feel as though it is getting a hot as it used to.  Is this a result of the thermostat doing it's job or can this be yet another issue.

Answer
Hi Mindy:

first part with the fan the car needs a blower motor resistor. It' pretty common for them to go bad. the speeds 1-4 burn out. as for the heat issue now. Did you have a low heat problem before the thermostat was replaced or did it crop up since? If it's only since then maybe you got the wrong tempature thermostat or you have air trapped int the cooling system. make sure it's full. Run the car with the radiator surge tank cap off for a while untill it reaches operating temp then top it off again.
