Pontiac Repair: wipers, thre, sunfire

I have a 96 sunfire and im trying to figure out why my wipers stop in the upright position when i shut them off

Hey Manny:

The wiper park arm mechansim has broken on the wiper transmission. It's pretty common on that car if you turned the wipers on withe them frozen to the glass it's the weak link in the system thre is a little tab on the arm that breaks of and it makes the wipers park straight up and down. I belive it's a dealer only part as well.. good luck :}
