Pontiac Repair: Water Pump Issue, coolant system, pontiac grand am

Question
I have a 1998 Pontiac Grand Am with a 2.4 engine. Automatic. My question is this. I replaced the water outlet housing and o-ring after pressure testing the coolant system and finding that it was leaking from that spot and nowhere else. After replacing it, I started the vehicle and it immedietly started pissing anti freeze from the water pump area. I am not sure if it's the water pump or the thermostat but my question is, what on earth is going on with that and what am I looking at for parts and labor to replace either the water pump or the thermostat?? Or both because they are right next to eachother??

Answer
Hi
If possible, I would recheck your bolts holding the water pump housing onto the block.
Check all the bolts in that area, SOMETIMES they'll "slide" around when retightening the water outlet and oring.
It MAY be you MAY need to replace a gasket or two.
The pump will leak from the weep hole on the bottom of pump.
You'll be able to see that VERY easily looking up from bottom.
I really hope this helps in some way.
Please follow post back, if needed.
