why does pipes turn red after running a few minutes it runs good though but it takes a few carnks to start

what pipes? exhaust headder pipes? if thye get red hot that's not good. the engine is not running right and the gases are burning in the exhaust instead of the converter. it's probably running rich like ijnectors leaking that would explain the hard start as well if the injectors leak the fule pressure inot the cylinders when the car is off it would start hard. you need to take it to a repair shop so they can hook it up to a scan tool to see waht is going on with the way it's running. This is just strictly a guess though. good luck :}
