Pontiac Repair: no power to fuel pump, diameter wires, pig tail

Question
I am not getting power to fuel pump on a 92 firebird 3.1. Where are the relays, fuses, or switches so that I can check for power. Thank you.

Answer
Hi Jesse:

there are fuses under the dash on that car and ther are fuseable links under the hood that feed the fuses inside the car. On those older cars the relays are generally up on the fire wall. The power feed to the pump is a Grey wire. Back at the connector for the pump there are 2 black wires and a purple and a greay wire the larger diameter wires are for the pump grey and the larger black wire. usually on the fule pump replay the dark green wire is the trigger from the engine computer to turn the relay on. so that relay would more than likely have a red or organge Maybe 2 of each green and grey. this car is to old to get an exact wire digarms off our internet web site it old goes back to '98. some of those older cars have a red wire siticking out of the engine harness near the relay that is a prime wire for the pump if this car has it. If you put 12 volts to it the pump should run. That is if the car has that pig tail. hope that helps you out some. Good luck :}
