Pontiac Repair: 1996 Pontiac Grand Am 3.1 4 Dr, electric cooling fan, climate area

Question
Appearantly the previous owner had used a bunch of stop leak. I have had radiator, water pump, all hoses, the intake maniford gasket, temp sensor, and had the system flushed. When mechanic pumps system pressure seems to hold. After car runs a while (30 min) seems ok. Drives ok and temp stays ok. After shut down an restart, Car will overheat, and literally dump antifreeze, in the area near water pump. Any ideas?  Getting close to a $2000.00 mark

Answer
Hi John:

a few things to check. does the electric cooling fan run on this car when it starts to get hot? The coolant dumping out is past the radiator cap on the surge tank. do you live in a hot climate area? ther me be an air folw issue between the condenser and radaitor where the radiator isn't getting enough air to disipate the heat from the coolant. You could have a radaitor that's plugged and the flow is cut off to part of it. how about a thermostat was that replaced? just a few things to check. good luck :)
