Pontiac Repair: Right brake lights and turn signal, circuit board assembly, pontiac montana

Question
Hi
   I have a 2001 Pontiac Montana. I have no right rear turn signal and when the brakes are applied both the arrows light up on the instrument panel and  the clicking of the flasher is twice the speed of normal. I have checked the tail light  and when the signal is actuated the brake lights alternate blinking top and bottom. I removed the lamp enclosure with the signal lamps and when the signal is actuated the turn signal glows but will not light. I tried replacing all 4 bulbs with no change in the problem. Smells like money if the dealer tracks this down.........your opinion would be appreciated.

Answer
Hi Nick:

This is an easy fix I think you either have a bad ground going to that tail lamp or the plug that attaches the circuit board to van harness has overheated and melted. take the tail lamp off again and unplug the harness and take a look at the plug if any of the terminals look like they melted then you need to replace the tail lamp circuit board and the connector on the harness. You may also have an issue where the socket in that tail lamp board may have melted as well in that case you only need the bulbs and the circuit board assembly. I'm sure it's one of those options. Good luck :}
