Pontiac Repair: service engine soon light, olds alero, gas cap

I have a 2004 Olds Alero with a 4cyl.with auto trans It has just over 91000 miles. Just this morning the service engine soon light came on. It seems to be running fine. Is there something that should be done and if so how soon.

If the light in not flashing then it's not fault that should damage anything. It could be any number of things causing the lamp to come on. I would get it looked at sooner rather than later the fauly may have something to do with the way it's running and it may have an adverse affect of fule economy so get it looked at at over $3.00 a gallon I'd hate to see you wate the gas. The lamp could be on for something simple like a loose gas cap. Good luck :)
