Pontiac Repair: 2001 bonneville 3.8L, fuel pressure, pressure regulator

Question
My car was running fine up to 3 months ago.  When I turn the key in the ignition the motor turns over but it takes forever to the motor to catch.  Sometimes if you are sitting at a redlight it will die.  The battery is about 1 year old but I know that can't be the problem.  What do you suggest???.....

Answer
Hey Craig:

It can be all kinds of things. I would look long and hard at the fule system. First off fule pressure running and to see if the pressure bleeds of quickly when the key is turned off. these engines have issues with the fule pressure regulator leaking fule into the vacuum linecausing hard starts and stalls. has any service engine soon light come on? My suspecian is mainly with the fuel pressure or with the pump. good luck :)
