Pontiac Repair: 2002 Grand Prix, turn signal switch, emergency flashers

Question
My horn fuse keeps quiting.  I have replaced it three times this year, twice within 3 months.  Also, smoke comes out of my seering column when my emergency flashers are on.  First question is how to replace the flasher switch.  But more importantly, could these two items be related?  Seems all problems with this car are electrical.

Answer
Hi Laura:

The flasher and horn I don't think are related. The horn control in the steering wheel controls the ground side of the horn operation so so that will not blow a fuse. you either have a bad horn assembly or a wire chafed to ground somewhere casuing the fuse to blow. as for the flasher swicth it's part of the turn signal switch and it's really not a job for the dso it your selfer first off the air bag is in the steering wheel and if you don't know waht your doing it's dangerous and number 2 you need a few special tools to disassembly the upper column.
