Pontiac Repair: Grand AM, car parts stores, question pool

Question
I have a 95 Grand Am that was fine about two hours ago.  I turned it on to drive 4 miles home and the ABS light was on.  The Check Oil light is always on, but that was never a problem.  I drove it for about 20 minutes and when I got home I turned it off, then tried to turn it back on.  The engine will not crank over and the lights sort of turn on then blink off.  The radio works, but the engine will not start.  The car has 264,000 miles on it.  Any suggestions?

Answer
Hi Jason:

Sorry it took so long to get to you but this question was in the "question pool" and not directed to me. sounds to me like you have a charging issue with this car the abs light more than likely came on because of low system voltage. I would charge the battery back up for a while and take it to one of the car parts stores that checked batteries and alternators for free and see what's up. chances are that the alternator is going bad or went bad. So pick one close to your house so you don't get stranded with a dead battery. Good luck :)
