Pontiac Repair: firebird engine swap, salvage yard, grand prix 3

I have a 97 firebird 3.8 automatic with a junk engine. I also have a 97 grand prix, 3.8, automatic. Is it the same engine? will it work in the firebid? I realize I will have to change intakes,exhaust manifolds, but will everything electronic, etc, match up. Thanks.. George

Good question. I don't know I'm going to say no! but I could be wrong. I trhink the bolt pattern is different for the transmission to bolt onto the block but I could be wrong. Give any local salvage yard a call and see what they say. I just fix em with the parts I'm given I can't tell you is one will fit on the other. If not good try none the less. If is does fit then yes you will have to swap all of the partd over from the manifolds intake and exhaust to all of the electronics! Good luck :)
