Question
im wondering if there is more than one thermostat in the motor somewhere ,,the car wants to over heat but when the one beside the water pump is out it doesn't get hot or over heat the heater inside the car is hot as could be help?????

Answer
Hi Tammy:

No there is only 1 thermostat. if it overheats with one in it then you have some other issue going on. Like a plugged radiator an engine head gasket issue an electric cooling fan that doesn't turn on or an air restriction between the condenser and the radaitor like pollen leaves etc.. running it without a theermostsat is not good #1 you will not geta any heat #2 you will use more fuel and at $3.00 a gallon that adds up and #3 it will cause long term engine damage form wear and not buring the gases out of the combustion chamber. Make sure that what ever thermostat you put in thie it is the correct one for the car and not a "fits all" Good luck :}
