Pontiac Repair: auto problems, whole slew, vacuum line

Question
I have a 1985 firebird trams am 305 5.0 FI motor that starts but dies when put in gear. i pretty sure all the vacuum line are hook together, looking for somewhere to start

It could be a whole slew of things. does it idle okay in park or does the idle hunt? if it idles okay will it run it you step on the gas? or does it die out? Can you keep it running by stepping on the gas when putting it in gear? It could be running out of fuel? Either the computer is driving it to lean or the pump is going bad and looing fuel. If you can keep it running with your foot on the gas it may be an issue with the idle control motor. Has the battery died recently? If so the computer may have lost it's memory for that valve position.. This is just the tip of the iceburgh on ideas. Any service engine soon light on? That helps to narrow it down. Those older injected cars are a bit of a nightmare... Good luck :0
