Pontiac Repair: Resetting Passlock Security, automatic shift, security chip

Hi working on 03 Pont Gran Am 3.4l Automatic , shift on console , original problem , car started fine and ran but loss accessories intermediately . If moved key around in ignition while running they would come on and off , figured bad ignition switched . Replaced switch assy and also lock cylinder assy which has that security chip on it . Now all accessories work but engine will not crank or start. Does the passlock system now have to be recaliberated because of new lock cylinder and how is that done . Thanks Mark

Hey Mark:

Yes it does. to learn the new security code attemp to start/crank the car and leave the key in the run position "do not turn it off or back from the run position". The security lamp will either stay on steady or start to flash each year is different. After 10 minutes the lamp will stop flashing or it will turn off when that happens turn the key to the off position wait 30 seconds or more and then attempt to start the car again. It should creank and run then. Good luck :)
