Buick/Olds: replaced radio, 2000 buick lesabre, buick lesabre

Question
I recently replaced my am/fm radio in my 2000 buick Lesabre with an OEM 2000 am/fm cass/cd from ebay with theftlock on it. when I plug it in I get a LOC display which is normal but in order to recieve the codes from the  vender, I need to get codes from my radio by holding down buttons 2 & 3 and then the am/fm button but it does not work for me. Is there a different procedure for this model or what is the problem. Thanks

Answer
If we are talking about the same type of radio, it has a button located near one of the turn knobs labeled "SEC" for security.  Press that button and the letter "SEC" will appear on the display.  The unlock code is usually 123.  You have 7 times to try it until is will read "INOP" for inoperable.  If that happens, you'll need to leave the accessory for your car on for an hour.  Don't worry, it happened to me and it doesn't kill the battery.  I am not sure of any different method to get the codes, but the codes are always simple.  Try 123, 456, 111, 222, 333, 444, 555, and 666.  Usually, though, it's 123.
