Pontiac Repair: pontiac grand prix gtp 2000, fuel pressure regulator, crank shaft position sensor

Question
car has failed to start on numerous occasions,it will crank strongly but not start and then maybe ten minutes, two hours, one, two, threedays later it will start and always runs well. there is no dash lights to indicate a problem

Answer
Hi
I would suspect the Crank shaft Position sensor (CKP).
It will do as you describe.
I WOULD tell you to have it properly diagnosed.
Have fuel pressure checked.
Have spark checked. Have the fuel pressure regulator checked for leaks.
I would also, as I usually do, advice a major tune up, plugs, plug wires, fuel filter, air filter.
I hope this helps
Good Luck
