Pontiac Repair: 97 Grand Am, power steering pump, stupid design

Question
I change the Serpentine belt do you need to take off the motor mount?  I can release the tension of the idler but when I try to take the belt off I see an arm between the power steering pump and the water pump.

Answer
Hey Richard:

Yep you have to take off the top portion of the mount the belt is fihed inbetween the mont and the engine. Use a jack and a block of wood that goes across the whole bottom of the oil pan to support it before you take off the mount. once you have that off just release the tension on the tensioner idler pulley with a 3/8" breaker bar or a long handled ratchet and you can take off the belt. once you get that mount off it makes it easier to get to the tensioner as well. It's a stupid design! Good luck :)
