Pontiac Repair: 1989 Bonneville SSE door locks/int. lights, latch assembly, door latch

Question
Hi Todd. Yes, my question is regarding the interior courtesy lights staying on, to where I have temporarily removed the fuse for that circuit. Now I have realized I have had an ongoing problem with my driver door lock, the key not working well. These two items are on the same fuse, also, so I suspect one is inflencing the other. Ideas? Thanks..Frank

Answer
Hi Frank:

Your ore than likely on to the problem it's probably a door latch thats's going bad on those older cars they not only had a door jam switch like older cars that sticks out of the pilar post like on the rerar doors but they also had then on the latch it's self inside the door. The fact that your having difficulty with the l/f door I would look in there first. take the inside trim off and unplug the latch assembly and see in the lamps go out. If so you found the problem if not try the r/f door. You did a pretty good job narrowing the problem down by yourself. Good luck. :)
