Pontiac Repair: 95 bonneville car problems., poor fuel economy, crank shaft position sensor

Question
I have several issues on my car,1)When I try to start it it doesn't always turn over it makes the sound of when it is already running and you turn the key that's what it does it takes 3-4 times to start, I have had the starter checked and they tell me it's fine.2) It stalls when I'm driving I had the fuel line fixed due to a leak but that was not the problem. I have had the computer hooked up to the car and again they are telling me that no codes are detected and nothing is wrong.3) I am getting about 10 miles to the gallon. Help please.

Answer
Hey Sara:

You have a bunch of issues here. You may want to cut your looses before you get to far into this.. If not here are some possible answers. As for the starting issue. If you had a starter motor go bad it may have damaged the engines flywheel thus the noise. If the starter you got is an after market starter it may need to be shimmed if the flywheel is not already to badly damaged. As for the stalling it could be a whole slew of problems. From low fuel pressure to a bad fuel pressure regulator leaking gas into the vacuum line and into the engine that could also be the reason your fuel milage has dropped off so much. You could have a crank shaft position sensor going bad usually when they go bad it's just like someone turned off the key while you are driving down the road. If it stalls at stops it could be a bad idle control motor. As for the fuel mileage dropping off so bad you may have a computer sensor skewed out of the normal spec's and making the engine run too rich "poor fuel economy" if one was bad enough it can make it stall so those 2 problems may be interconnected or may not. Not that I through confused you at least that is something to go on. Good luck :)
