Pontiac Repair: When it rains; it pours, car leaks, weather strips

Question
Hi Todd,
My car leaks everytime it rains. I get deep water on the floors.  We tried the hose trick; and still can't see where the water is coming in.  My car is a 1995 Sunfire; in very good condition; and I'd sure hate to see it rust out. And suggestions?  I have called glass people, body people and 2 garages. No one wants to touch it.  Please help.  It's a GT 2 door.  Thanks.  Denise

Answer
Hey Denise:

Yes water leaks are hard to find! And I can tell you you better find it fast because the air bag module is under the right front seat and if it get water in it the air bags can either fail to go off in a accident or I have seen in extreme cases the bags go off by them self!!!!! is the water in the front or the rear? if it's in the rear it could be a trunk weather strip leaking or it could be any of the rear glass seals. if it's in the front it could be door weather strips, a windshield seal it could be coming in from a plugged A/C drain on the right side of the car. That is sort of the most common if the floor is wet on the front passenger side. the thought is if any after market things were added to the car like an alarm or a radio amp etc. that where ever that was ran through the car from under the hood into the car wasn't seal off properly. How about a sunroof? Just a few Ideas and yes most places do not want to get involved in looking for leaks the tiniest of holes will produce a huge amount of water if under the right conditions. Hope this helped.
