Question
Where on the transmission is the Presure Control Solnoid located and what could cause it to fail and turn on the check engine light?

Answer
Hey Tony:

I'm really not a transmission guy but I'll try to answer it as best as I can. The pressure control solenoid is inside the transmission it's mounted on the valve body assembly. You have to remove the side cover on the transmission and it's in there. Yes it can set a service engine light and it can cause any number of concerns from slipping sloppy up shifts to hard harsh shifts. I can not honestly say that I have ever seen one of them ever being replaced on one of these. I'm sure it can happen but it's a well made piece of equipment. I did a quick bulletin search for you and the only related thing I could find was one regarding a control module replacement if all other means of a repair had been exhausted that that was a list ditch attempt to repair the problem. I would look at ground connections on the engine block. Look at the connections on the battery it's self bad connections at the transmission or at the control module. Good luck :) If for some reason you go diging into the transmission that uses a special fluid it's not dextron fluid.
