my sons 2005 pontiac g6 dic says engine power reduced.what may be the cause of this.

Hi Rich:

That is a message to let you know there is a problem with the "drive by wire" system in the car. that engine doesn't have an old fashion throttlr cable that attaches the gas pedal to the engine. The throttle on the car is controlled electronically and there is a fault in that system. You more then likely have a service engine soon lamp on as well. If this car has a sun roof there is a possability that it's leaking and water got into a connector on the left side of the dash causing a problem with the system. 80% of the time it's the pedal assemby that's bad 10% the engine throttle body assembly and 10% wiring issues...
