Pontiac Repair: car wont start, motor position, fuel pump

Question
I have a 1993 grand prix SE.  It hasnt ran for about a month and now we tried
starting it last night and it wouldn't start. so we jump started it and it ran for
a while. so i let it run for about 5 minutes then went to drive it and it died. so
i started it again and it went for about 15 seconds then died again. then i did
it again and it died again.  But after that it wouldn't even turn on. So, i tried
jump starting it again and it wouldn't start it would try but it wouldn't make
it. I tried pushing on the gas to see if that would get it to start and when you
push on the gas it did nothing. kind of like the engine wasn't getting any gas
to it. what is wrong??!! I was thinking it was the fuel pump. Please help!?

Answer
Hi Chelsea:

It could be a lot of things. did the battery die after sitting? If that were the case the computer lost it's mmemory and needs to re learn it. If the battery was completely dead charge it with a charger first disconnect the battery let it sit for a few minutes and re connect it. once connected turn the key to run but don't start it. turn it back off wait 1 minutes and try to start it again. That will learn the idle control motor position and it should start. If not then you may very well have a fuel pump issue wher it isn't getting enough fule to run the car. you need to get a gauge and check for pressure. Hope that helps :)
