Pontiac Repair: INterior Dash lights are out, interior lamps, printed circuit board

Question
QUESTION: I have a 98 Pontiac Grand AM SE, 6 cyl. My problem is, THe other night I had no dash panel lights, I checked the fuse, It was burned out, I replaced it and I got lights. Next evening, again, no lights, I check the fuse, It was OK!!
Could this maybe be a bad dimmer switch? If so, how can I test it?  OR could all the dash panel bulbs blow at the same time??  THank you

ANSWER: Hi
Do or does the other lamps work and dim (radio, air conditioner controller, etc...) or is it JUST the IPCluster lights?
If it is JUST the cluster lights, there is POSSIBALLY a broken wire.
If it is ALL the interior lamps please let me know.

Answer
Hi
Thanks
I think you can rule out the dimmer switch. (Unless it is shorting internally). It MAY be bulbs in IP Cluster, although all burning at same time would be unusual.
It may have shorted the power circuit on the printed circuit board part of cluster.
You can check for power on the gray wire going into the cluster. If it is hot, your cluster/cluster bulbs are bad.
If the gray wire is NOT hot, you may have an open circuit on that gray wire SOMEWHERES.
I Hope this helps
