Pontiac Repair: Grinding Noise, front wheel bearing, pontiac grand am

Question
I have a 04 Pontiac Grand Am, my car is making a grinding noise, you cant hear it once you start to accelerate, but once you start to slow down at a slower speed you can hear it a little bit, but it gets louder when I step on the break now I'm guessing it could be the breaks, but I just thought I'd get some advice from someone who knows cars better than I do, so do you have any idea what it could be?? anything would be helpful. Thanks!

Answer
Hi Adrian:

It' could be a lot of things but the brakes is the most logical thing that would be making. I'm assuming it's from the front?? It could be that the brake pads are worn out and causing the noise they should have made a high pitched squeal first before they grind. The pads have wear indicator on them that make the noise. regardless you should have it checked sooner rather than later. there are a few other things it could be the second most logical would be a front wheel bearing making noise but once you are driving the noise would change when you turn the car either way.. Hope that helps.
