Pontiac Repair: 2000 sunfire 2.2 L auto w/ac, coolant lines, coolant system

Question
Started to overheat. Changed water pump, thermostat, flushed coolant, bypassed heater coil, purged all air in coolant lines, hard wired fan. Still starts to over heat when running. Now having trouble starting. Any suggestions?

Answer
Hi
I would have the head/head gasket checked. This is a fairly easy process preformed by most shops. They'll use a block checker and fluid to check for exhaust leaking into the coolant system. The liqiud is blue, and when exhaust is present it turns yellow to green.
This would be a SURE sign that the head (probabally just the head gasket) is bad. The gasket is a semi-common problem. You dont see them everyday, but you do see them.
I have also seen the radiators get clogged up enough to create overheat problems.
I really hope this helps.
Good Luck
