Pontiac Repair: OEM steering wheel radio control retrofit not working, chevrolet s10 blazer, s10 blazer

Question
My vehicle: stock 2002 Chevrolet S10 Blazer, 4.3 V6 (L35, VIN code W), 4 door, 4WD, auto, air, PW, PL, cruise control. I recently retrofitted OEM steering wheel radio controls (code UK3) using parts from a low-mileage donor 2000 Blazer (Trailblazer package, code CTB). Parts swapped: steering wheel with controls and correct clock spring with connections for steering wheel radio controls. Parts used were known good used units (worked when removed from donor vehicle). After retrofit onto my Blazer, the controls do not operate my OEM RDS CD/cassette radio; the radio functions fine by itself. Does this accessory require reprogramming of the BCM for proper recognition/operation of the new components? When I retrofitted OEM keyless entry, the BCM did not recogniize the keyless receiver - the Chevy dealer reprogrammed the BCM and the keyless has worked ever since.

Answer
Hi
In the fuse box inside the truck you'll need to install a 2a fuse into the STR WHL RDO IGN spot.
You'll also need a 2a fuse in the STR WHL ILLUM spot for them to light up.
You'll also need to check and make sure you have circuit from the steering wheel controls to the radio. (ckt 1011, light green from controls. Connector 203 terminalA-12 it turns to ckt 1796 DK, Blue color.) It goes into back of radio and the DK. BLue ckt 1796 Connector C2 terminal A7 or C2 terminal 14 either with or without code CTF.
Other than this, I see no reason for BCM reprogramming as NONE of the circuits go are controlled by BCM.
Hope this helps
Good luck
