Pontiac Repair: 1992 grand prix gtp no start, gp gtp, injector pulse

Question
1992 gp gtp died and will not restart. Mechanic checked fuel pressure, spark , fuel pump all ok. says no injector pulse. He says the ignition control module needs to be replaced. I have looked at wiring diagrams and this makes no sense to me I think it may be a pcm problem.  Is it the pcm that controls injector pulse? Any other suggestions?

Answer
Well you are both right but for different reasons. The ignition control module reads the coil for the sparkplugs to let the ECM know which spark plug is firing and when. The ECM then uses that information as well as several other sensors to set the injector spray timing and rate.

Personally, I would say go with the mechanic's suggestion first because it is a hell of a lot cheaper and is usually the first thing most mechanics with this problem go after first.
