Pontiac Repair: ETS/ABS, enhanced traction system, anti lock braking system

Question
I have a 2002 Pontiac Grand AM GT1 with a 3.4 L V6.  Since the winter, which we had a substantial amount of snowfall at one time, my ABS, ETS, and Service Vehicle soon light have been on.  A mechanic told me not to worry about it, but I am wondering what is wrong and how much it would be to fix because I am getting ready to sell the vehicle.

Answer
Hi
First let me explain the ABS/ETS lights.
It WILL come on when the service vehicle soon (SVS) light is on,OR the Service E due to the fact that when the wheels start to slip, the Anti lock braking system "pulses" the slipping wheels brake system trying to keep it from slipping. If it sees no difference in slippage, it "requests" the cars computer (PCM = Powertarin Control Module) to limit torque, so the wheel will stop slipping. (all this takes place in  milliseconds) All that being said when there IS a problem with the PCM's controlled systems  The Enhanced Traction System (ETS)will be disabled until the fault no longer exsists. That is why the ETS and ABS lights are on.
That being said, I would go at least have it diagnosed and find out exactly what the cause is. That way, even if you DO NOT fix it for sale, you can tell the buyer what the problem may be.
If it is not running bad, and everything else works, and your driving it and are comfortable in the car, I would agree with the other mechanic.
However if your going to sell it, or if there is/are other issues you are NOT comfortable with, I would get it diagnosed or fixed.
Hope this helps.
Just advice from experience.
Good luck
