Alfa Romeo Repair: Rough idle, air flow meter, fuel injection system


Question
I have a 1984 spider veloce, it was running great until this morning it has a horrible hesitation. I change the ignition wires, spark plugs, rotor and distributor cap also the fule filter. Still won't even idle. Do you knot he correct firing order. It's the only thing I can think off tha's wrong.

Firing order is 1-3-4-2, but the symptom you gave would not be from crossed ignition wires, that symptom would be low power.

You need to check components of the fuel injection system.  Specifically the air flow meter, throttle switch and temp sensor. These checks are done with an ohm meter.  However, you  can physically check that the air flow meter flap moves freely and that there are no air leaks between the meter and the throttle body.  

By the way, when you changed the plugs, if the color was uneven on the insulator, suspect faulty injectors.
