Pontiac Repair: 2003 Pontiac Grand Am GT V6, powertrain control module, pontiac grand am

Question
The service engine soon, ABS, and TRAC OFF light keep coming on and will not register a code.  This mostly happens when I back up and then go forward or is more likely to happen when it rains.  It seems like everything is running ok. Thanks for you time

Answer
Hi
The ETS (Enhanced Traction System) and ABS  work from the same module.
When traction is needed eg.. wet roads and a tire begins to slip, the ABS control module "pulses" the slipping wheel to attempt to regain traction. within a certian amount of time, if the ABS cannot obtain traction by pulsing, it then "asks" the PCM (Powertrain Control Module or engine computer) to reduce torque or power so the wheel will stop slipping. When all these conditions are being met, all lights will illuminate. I am sure this is what is going on with your vehicle, since this condition will not set and Faults as the system is operating as designed.
All this takes place in milli-seconds which is why they probabally dont stay on too long.
If in dopubt, though, take it to a repair shop your famailiar with and have it double checked again.
I Hope this helps
Good Luck
