Pontiac Repair: a/c 2001 Pont GP, pontiac gran prix, gran prix 3

Question
A/C runs intermittently.  When it stops a/c light goes off, as do the daytime running lights (blower stops too).  Can sometimes jiggle the ignition switch and all come back on.  Can happen when I brake or use turn signal, but not every time.  2001 Pontiac Gran Prix 3.8 series II, 70,000 miles.

Answer
Hi
From the complaint you have given, and the details, it sounds like you may indeed have a faulty Ignition switch.
I have seen these go bad in these particular vehicles.
You could check voltage at the A/C Controller and see if it drops out when the system starts to act up. That would also explain the brake and turn signal as the harnesses are in close proximity in the steering column. The DRL's I dont have an explanation for, unless it is the switch dropping voltage.
Also let me clarify, the ignition switch is the electrical portion, not the key cylinder.
I hope this helps.
Just advice from experience.
Good Luck
