Pontiac Repair: Waterpump Replacement, mount brace, support fixture

Question
hello.  i own a 93 grand am with the 3.3 litre v-6 engine.  my waterpump is leaking badly and needs to be replaced.  i can see the waterpump, but it looks like a real job to get to it.  i am wondering what needs to be removed in order to get to the waterpump.  any advice would be greatly appreciated.  thank you.

Answer
Hi James.
It is a fairly involved job. I can tell you that the motor mount must be removed. The engine will need to be supported with an engine support fixture. The engine mount brace also. The tensioner needs to come off. If your vehicle has A/C there is a brace  that connects the mount brace to the top compressor bolt. It has to be removed. Then the pulley and then the pump.
To install reverse all parts from removal.
The labor time guide says 2.1hrs + .4hrs (2.5 hours) for the entire job so it is a bit involved.
If in doubt, I always say shop around. Get the least expensive price on parts and labor. Unless you have a shop you use all the time.
I hope this helps.
Just advise from experience.
Good Luck
Paul
