Pontiac Repair: code, mass air flow sensor, mass air flow

Question
QUESTION: Hi,
I have a 83 Pontiac Grand Am. It has a 3300 v-6 engine. It has a bad hasitation when starting off from a stop position. I went to AutoZone and the code that it read when looked up was for "hi speed contacts shorted". What the heck does this mean and how can it be repaired. Any ideas on cost on parts as well.  Thanks in advance....
ANSWER: Hi
I checked the codes for a 1993 Grand Am, as the Grand Am was not made in 1983.
I also , if possible need the Code number. I checked All codes and could not find one with this description.
Will help if possible.
Thanks
Paul

QUESTION: Hi Paul. Thanks for the reply. I looked for the piece of paper that I wrote the code down on but couldn't find it. I'm certain about what AutoZone said it was though because it really got my attention. Sorry about the "83" typing error. Any ideas? Thanks in advance, D.J.

Answer
Hi again, DJ
I looked again and to do you any good I really need the code #. It is an Engine Code? Is the Service Engine Soon light on?
I know the 3.3 (3300) have a problem like you describe, that is USUALLY resolved by cleaning the MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor wire.
I can help you do this, if you like, or if you could take it back, they'll scan it for free again.
ALOT of other places offer free scans, Meineke Car Care centers do I'm sure Midas , Pep Boys, almost ALL the major Nationwide repair chains will offer some sort of "Free" diagnosis. Just get the Code #.
I'll be looking for a follow up post
