what does code P1406 mean on a 1997 pontiac transport van?

It's an EGR valve pintel position/flow code. eithet the valve is stuck will not clsoe fully or the solenoid in the valve that runs it opn and closed is bad. if this has high milsage on it it could be just a case where a chunk of carbon for stuck in the valve and it's holding the pintel open or will not allow it to fully open. good luck :-}
