Pontiac Repair: Serpentine belt troubles, serpentine belts, serpentine belt

Question
what would cause my 93 grand am with a 4 cyl. quad cam to shred serpentine belts as soon as I put them on? all everything will turn by hand except the crank

Just a a guess would be the tensioner being out of alignment. I have seen this with the Quad 4 before so you may wany to check that.
Also just check the alignment of the other accessories (A/C compresssor and Alternator.) Thats  the only other explanation I can think of as long as everything spins free.
Also check the operation of the A/C compressor and make sure if and when it comes on, the clutch is not locked up, that will also shred a belt.
Just suggestions from experience
