Pontiac Repair: i need some help, valve stem seals, pontiac grand prix

Question
Hey i have a 1995 pontiac grand prix.  I just got a new engine installed in my car.  the second day since i had the car the car was making some weird noises.  there is white smoke that blows out of the muffler and my car just puts when im sitting at a stop.  It acts like it wants to die but it doesn't.  One of my friends dad told me that it could be a gasket or it could be a blown valve. i wasn't sure what i should do about this. the engine has a money back guarentee on it. so do i get a new engine or should i fix the car. could you email me back if you have any answers for this problem.

Answer
White smoke usually means that oil is burning inside the combustion chamber and that could be caused by a few different things. None of the things are good, and if you just purchased the engine and it is still under warranty I would go back.
Causes could include worn piston rings, head gasket, valve stem seals or a few other things.
Check your oil, if there is any sticky residue on the dipstick  that is not oil colored or black, you have water in the oil. Water in oil will usually turn a milky light brown color and stick to everything, it will be all over the bottom of the oil fill cap depending on how long it’s been that way.

What were the funny noises?
