Pontiac Repair: overheating, engine cooling fans, radiator fluid

Question
I have a 1997 pontiac grand am 2.4. all of my radiator fluid is running into my floor boards causing the car to overheat, i have bypassed the heater core, but the car continues to run hot.   any ideas on what may be causing this, please help.

Answer
i would check the engine cooling fans for proper operation.if they are not working the engine will overheat.it is also a good idea to change the thermostat.if the thermostat is stuck closed the engine will overheat.an overheated engine will ruin a good heater core.
