Pontiac Repair: 96 pontiac grand am se, daytime running lights, pontiac grand am

Question
Hello

I have a 96 Grand Am (4 cyl auto).  70k miles, runs fine.  Here's the problem: when I brake, there is s clicking sound coming from under the hood.  At night I notice that the lights dim a little in sync with the clicking.  Then last week I noticed that when I put on the hadn brake, the headlights go out.  I'm thinking there is a short or bad fuse or link -- any ideas what or where to look?  Thanks.

p.s. I checked out the brakes and used the opportunity to replace pads/shoes and rotors/drums and front calipers -- no change.

Though i am unable to listen to the noise i can guess at what it could be,usually the clicking that is heard when applying the brakes is the shift interloc solenoid and this is normal, the lights will dim when applying the brakes due to the electrical load placed on the alternator to power the headlights and taillights and brake lights, also with the heater fn on etc, this is normal also, the headlights/Daytime running lights will turn off if the parking brake is on,this is normal operation also,i think you should be ok the vehicle seems like it is operating normaly.
