Tractor Repair: removing the governor shaft, throttle shaft, small pin

Question
Arnie I need to remove the governor Shaft on my farmall super A to replace the oil seal. How do I do this without damaging the housing or the weight spreader that is on the shaft?

Answer
Hello,

The shaft with the weights on it should just pull out, the throttle shaft has a small pin through the fork that is operated by the weights.  Drive the pin out with a small punch and pull the shaft out.  Pry the old seal out with a seal puller or a small screwdriver, being careful not to gouge the bore.  Drive the new seal in and reassemble the parts onto the shaft as it is installed.  Align the holes and drive the pin through the fork and shaft.

               Good luck,

                      Arnie
