Pontiac Repair: 2002grand prix, wd 40, opinoin

Sometimes the ignition key will not come out. I took it to a dealership and they said the ignition switch was fine they said it was a computer in my shift handle. I was wondering if there was any you could bypass that chip so I could get my key outor get it to work without the chip? That computer cost 525.00 and I would like bypass it if I could.

i have heard of people making keys without the chip on it and the vehicle would not start . i would try spraying a little grease type lubricant not wd 40 in the switch.ive never heard of a computer causing this i would say it is a faulty switch. however replacing the switch may cause the computer to not recognize the key so that may cause a problem.i would take it to a reputable mechanic and get a second opinoin.
