Pontiac Repair: Axle problems?, tie rod ends, wheel bearings

Question
First, I have a 94 Grand am that I bought from a gentleman.  The problem is when you make a left  or right corner, it feels like the wheel is going to come off.  He gave me a statement from the garage where new berrings were put into it, to get it through an inspection.  I was thinking, maybe the tie rod ends? He thought maybe a whole axle.

Answer
HI,Joe
I can only guess that they make a grinding or growl type noise when you turn?if that is the case,it sounds like worn hub bearings{wheel bearings},now if they were replaced at a garage, and i hope they really were, then they could have failed Bearings right out of the box,ive ran into this many times, only to install new hub bearing to have them fail,or when they installed the hub bearings the tech never torqued the axle nut causing the cv jount to move in and out making noise when you turn,an example is that GM wants 250 ft lbs of torque at least on the axle shaft nut,if the tech has a weak air gun it just wont do the job of torqueing the nut,it is a locknut type and when it is put on by an air gun,you may feel its torqued when it is still loose at the hub, have the ft Hub Bearings reinspected to make sure all is torqued.if you need more help feel free to drop me a line,Thanks
