NASCAR Racing: Cup drivers in Busch Series, dale earnhardt jr, greg biffle

Question
I'm a long time fan of NASCAR but there is a lot I don't know.  I always thought the Busch Series was kind of a training ground for future cup drivers, a place for them to gain experience and to catch the eye of team owners.  Can you please tell me why the Cup drivers are ALLOWED to plunder the Busch Series like they're doing? I don't think drivers like Kenseth, etc. should be allowed to fish both ponds..I guess I know WHY they do it but why are they ALLOWED to do it? They're taking a ride out from under an up-and-comer.

Answer
Hey Robin,

Cup drivers are allowed to race in the BUSCH series because there is no rule that tells them not to.  There is no rule concerning this partially because there is a scarcity of drivers who are willing to drive.  Anyway, I say the rule should be that full-time cup drivers should not be allowed to race more than 3 to 5 BUSCH races per year.  But that's just me.  But people like Carl Edwards, Greg Biffle, Kevin Harvick, Jeff Burton, and especially Dale Earnhardt Jr should be limited to 3 to 5 races.  Junior's pretty good in not being a BUSCH champ tyrant.  Every time he gets in a BUSCH car he is a serious factor in the race.  Plus it helps that he is the 98 and 99 BUSCH CHAMPION.  But those other guys who do it every week need to stop.  I agree with your point that they are taking the high position racing experience out from a trainee.  But they are allowed to do it because there is no rule saying that they can't.  Hope I answered your question!
