Pontiac Repair: Quad 4/ 4 cylinder engine, new spark, deffinately

Question
I loss power driving and the car started running slow and slower untill I got home. Almost like it loss all compresion. There was no clanking noise but it sounded more like a diesel engine. My boyfriend started the car it ran fine for 20 to 30 seconds but when he put it in gear or ran it for a while it began to bog down.I had new injectos put in complete assembly but still have the same problem. I read an article about the grand am quad 4. That there was a problem with low-speed misfire  in the engine. It turned out to be the ignition coil housing cover. It acts like a distributor and it was arcing. This was a problem with many quad 4 2.3 engines. It was dealt with under recall for awhile. Could that be the problem with my Grand Am? Tell me what you think or if it could be something else?

Answer
This deffinately sounds like an ignition problem. Yes the quad 4 is known for the ignition coils, cover and module causing many owners, and techs lots of problems. Because of the nature of driveability  I wouldn't try and guess which was causing your problem, but I think I would start with the insulators between the coils and the cover plus new spark plug boots seeing as that is the cheapest place to start. Hope this helps and good luck :)
