Pontiac Repair: 96 Pontiac Grand Am - Manual Windows, pontiac grand am, auto parts store

Question
Hi Wayne.

The driver's door manual window in my daughter's '96 Grand Am seems to have fallen out of its guide channel and is extremely difficult to raise and lower just using the crank handle. You actually have to manipulate the glass with your free hand while working the crank handle to get the window to move in either direction. The door glass is not damaged or broken and neither is the door.  I suspect an internal mechanism or part inside the door itself needs to be replaced.

Is this a repair I can do myself or do I need a professional to do the job?

I would appreciate your thoughts.

Thanks,

Answer
Hi, when the window is coming up will it lean to the front? If so the guide has came off the window, if this is the case, the window should have a hole near the top, on the door lock end, the hole is where the guide gose, it will snap in, you can get the guide from a auto parts store, after snaping the guide in, then you will have to pop it back into the channel,
