Pontiac Repair: Electrical - will not start, crank pulley, loose connection

Question
The battery was checked and it's good. I have even tried to jump it. I'm going to check with the auto parts store to test the old starter and go from there. Thanks for your advice.-------------------------

Question -
I'm having stating problems with my '94 Bonneville. The day before it stopped starting it would only click as though it was attempting to start. Others wise it has run great up to this point. The only problem it was having is that the main computer had failed again and it was running a little rough. Now all it does is click when you turn the key but will not start even after replacing the starter. I am thinking of replacing the computer any way but would like to resolve the start prblem before doing so. At this point it could as well be the computer. Thnak you for your help.

Hi, have you check the battery? To see if it has a full charge. A loose connection at the battery and at the starter. The computer would not stop it from turning.

Answer
Mike check and see will the engine turn, you can do this by taking a socket and brake bar and turning the crank pulley. Turn the engine counterclockwise. Make sure that it turn 2 complete turn. If it will not turn the timing could be jumped and cause a valve to hit the top of the piston. Do this check after you know that the starter is good.
